I don't have that kind of money Buck. I was lucky to have purchased it for 500, way cheaper. And that took me months to save for as it is, it's not the only thing my money is put twords, just the one thing i do because i enjoy music.

This "garbage" you say so happens to be the best sounding subwoofer i have ever heard, no one i have ever met has come close, no one can beat it and still be loud that i have met. You don't know bass until you have had it in the right box for SQ. You just hate JL because you want the cheap subwoofer that is loud, yes you will be louder then me, but will also give me a headache because of the way it sounds, not worth it.

Lulz, you don't wanna get into it with these guys. Their set ups will sound better AND be much louder than yours so dont' even try.

my subs cost $50 each, and i am 20 db louder than you, with better sq.

yes, it is all in the box...mine is a 6th order clamshell with the rear chamber tuned to 33hz that acts as a folded horn.

There are still people who get a lot louder and sound a lot better than you, so take it easy. Most people on this forum, including me, don't really like JL because it's way overpriced. I wouldn't consider it garbage. We are just trying to help.

Well can you name some brands that sound better? I would love to hear them, if i haven't already. If you could buy a JL amplifier, the slash series at 500 watts rms for 400 new, would you? And if your companies are so much better then why do professional audio shops not sell those brands to get more satisfied customers? I think there is a reason they predominately stick to Alpine, JL, and Hertz. Not trying to be rude, but just really want to figure this out, and am throwing my points at you so you can give a suggestion to as of why things are such. I have heard all my friends system and believe me, i want out of their cars.

allcrispedup what is your set up? Your brand and where to buy? I will give a $50 subwoofer a try in a friends car, and if it is bad, i have proven myself that the old cliche that you pay for what you get, and otherwise you may have saved me a lot of money in my future set up. Thanks

No, I wouldn't buy a JL Slash 500/1 amp for $400 new. In fact, I just bought two used MB Quart DSC1500.1Ds for $305 shipped. That's six times the power, for $100 less. Maybe now you will understand that JL is overpriced.

Unless your friends are enthusiasts, that doesn't surprise me. The typical person with a system doesn't know **** about SQ. I bet they are all running factory door speakers too.

I have four RE Audio RE 12s.

Do a box that is 1.5 ft^3, tuned to 33 Hz. It will sound amazing.

What about your mids and highs? Those are very important. What would you recommend for a budget subwoofer? Same brand?

I have a single cab chevy 2500 with bucket seats.

right between the buckets - I have a single (of a pair I have) jbl gto ( old style one ) in a custom made down firing box

and its verry nice actually off of low power.

I was so impressed with the down firing box - that im going to re design one to hold a second 10" that I have

and power them with a old school rf punch 200a1. port facing up at the verry back wall of the cab at 33hz and down firing subs

should be verry satisfying off of low power.

I would like to see you try a fiew diffrent box styles for your current sub. im thinking that the stealth box you have now is not idealy suited for your truck.

post us a picture of the area your working with in the truck. maby we can suguest a diffrent box design to help maxamize the hardware you already have... you might be suprized how big a diffrence can be made by using the right box for the aplication

All of my equipment is listed in my sig.

Up front I have CDT Audio COM-626 components, which are by far the best sounding set of door speakers I have owned. Got these for a great price, although they retail for $200.

My amp is a Next VRz 4.400, which was hand built at the Audison buildhouse in Italy. Bought used for hella cheap.

I have no rear speakers.

Now Audison i have heard of and heard tested, they are a great brand, but expensive. But all I mostly want to know is if these other brands are so much better why does no one really sell them?

Some do, in my area, Stereo EFX sells hertz, dd, **** like that, Bico Stereo sells Memphis, RE, Arc, you just have to go to the right shops.

Hertz is expensive am i right? Look i will post pictures but i have heard DD, maybe they were older but they are spl subwoofers for sure, i would never have a set up like that.
