Troubleshooting Amp

I just got everything and after finally wiring it all up, when i turned my car to on, my amp lights up the green (powered) then that dims out and red (protected) dims in. It just goes back and forth at a steady rhythm. I re-did my ground and then checked all the fuses...still nothing. What could be causing this fluctuation between powered and protected? (p.s it does it without any subs connected.

The amp is pretty dang cold, but i couldn't imagine it doing this because its too cold?.?.?

EDIT: its a kx600.1 if that makes any difference.

Please guys...any response would be helpful. I'm about to go buy a DMM and test the wires, but i believe they are ok.

This may sound stupid but, check to see if you might have your remote and your power wires switched. my friend did this and couldnt figure it out for a while. good luck.

Ok, the wires are definitely not switched. The remote and power wires are all reading 12v. I had it working for a little bit, but then it does the same dumb thing. Going back to switiching back and forth between powered and protected. Please help ASAP!!!

I had this same problem with my Legacy amp a while back, turns out i had to replace a MOSFET.. you should look online on how to test them and then test each one of yours.

^ I have no idea what a MOSFET even is...do you think if i took it somwhere they could test it for me (i.e circuitcity/bestbuy, or maybe a specialty audio shop) I bought this amp from ikesound.com will they replace it or will I have to pay up the rear for shipping?

Disconnect your speaker leads, does the problem still exist?

Disconnect the rca leads, does the problem still exist.

If the answer is yes after both are disconnected you either have a bad ground, poor power connections or chances are a bad amp. If the problem goes away with the speakers hooked up and the rca's disconnected, have a closer look at the rca cables, one may be clinched or going to ground, this will put an amp into protection. Run a temporary (over the seats etc) new rca cable from the cd player to the amp to verify.
