Liquid Fire...
So I bought an SSX1500.1 from B_Campbell about 3 months ago, started running it the first day I got it, and it was great. I didnt even bother opening it up and looking at the guts. Well since it draws a good amount of current I had to upgrade my electrical. Well today I finnaly got my HC1800 installed in my trunk as my 2nd battery, and also bought my HO alt last week was going to install it this weekend (spend about $500 so my electrical could handle the SSX). Everything seem to run fine for about an hour, then I heard a pop and saw smoke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif . Took the amp out and opened it up, and this is what i see.

This is what I noticed from the packaging that it came in (its the box from Treo)

it seems to me that the styrofoam was broken into small pieces and had fell into the actual amp itself. Then it melted on the Mosfets, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Anyone know what I can do about this? or where I can get this fixed (maybe someplace cheaper since I just spent all my money on the new bat and Alt)

This pisses me off, everytime I get something good, something else goes bad.

I dont know what else to check for, I havn't changed anything in my setup. I just never opened up the amp until today (when it fried). There was a 200amp external fuse setup like Treo recommened in the manual. But it wasn't blown.

I can see more places where styrofoam was melted ont oteh mosfets but I couldnt get my camera in a position where it would show them. I dont relaly know how to take off the heatsinks on the mosfets either.

Go to CIA, not Autotekx. They already have had my SSX1500.1 there so the guy knows what he's doing. Autotekx has never dealt with Treo amps and they were unable to repair mine.

I'll buy your amp if you don't want to get it repaired //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

OMG! I am so sorry, pm me and let me know if there is anything I can do.

My Z1 was packaged the same way as that treo was. I hope the same thing didn't happen to my new Z1, I haven't installed it yet either.

But wait, wasn't the amp wrapped in plastic then put in the box? I can't remeber it has been so long.

that's how it usually goes.

yea, but it is only wrapped in plastic on one side and the other is half way tapped open, I even had to take parts of styrofom off my Z1, I guess I need to open the amp and check if any got in.

B_Campbell it wasnt ur fault, so dont worry about it. I just gotta see if I can get it fixed somehow. It suxs having 2 FI Q's sitting there and no bass in my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
