Rated and actually take are two different things. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've seen 5 amp fuses let 30-40 amps through it before popping. 30 amps I can get easily 100 through before popping. 5x their rating isn't out of the question for most decent fuses.2x rated power for 3 secs is what fuses are rated for...
Thanks...I guess?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifPopped your groan cherry...be proud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
the trick to meca is el cheapo fuses from ebay and amazon. this 'install bay' 150 amp fuse was dead shorted to a 31 series optima blue top battery with a set of jumper cables.i held it on til i felt the cable start to get hot. me and some of my friends did this after seeing a guy do it to a 250 amp fuse on youtube.if you look at the fuse after i popped the cover off of it, you will notice that it is one continuous piece of metal. their is no fusible link!
here is the youtube video that prompted the tests.
In my testing AGU's seem to pass the most on a consistent basis. However I know some guys have had luck with certain brand mini-anl's.Hey tommy, you've messed with fuses that could take 5x their rating without effecting score?
I've built custom fuse blocks, tighten the hell out of them using InstallBay fusing and last competing year was able to pass ~1100A thru 320A of fusing for ~2 full seconds before they popped to get my score.
They were mini-ANL fuses, btw.
Is there a certain type of fuse class that accepts more current than others or is it just brand choice?
Obviously MAXIs are illegal so can't use them.
That would be rather noticeable by just looking at the fuse.a 300 amp fuse could be reborn as a 25 amp fuse.
