Traveling to Mexico

i went ahead and booked my spring break to Cancun, but now im hearing about how unsafe mexico is with the drug cartel and whatnot having problems.
Does anyone see any problems with going to Cancun, or do you think its places closer to the border areas / non americanized cities in Mexico.

i wouldnt trip cause if you think about there will be hella people in cancun for spring break and the odds of something happening to you are very unlikely. also i think the media/news is blowing the situation out of proprotion.

go have fun, just dont f0ck with the drug cartel. lol

This has been going on for quite awhile now, not just this last couple of weeks. Me and my wife went down there in October and if you head out of the major resort areas you will see soldiers patrolling the major roads. I asked what for then and they said they were patrolling for the drug cartels. You will be safe as long as you are conscious of your surrondings.

My wife was in Cuidad Juarez for a month and she doesn't want to ever go back and she's from Mexico, that is where most of the fighting is along the border where the cartels fight the police so they can get their dope across the border. Down there the cartels run stuff not the police. In popular tourists spots like Cancun I'd think you would be safer ,but I would still be very careful as the Mexican police like to take your money and Americans have been kidnapped and held for ransom and even killed.

cancun and areas like that are fine. It's the border areas that are dangerous. Though if you are not careful, any part of that shithole can be dangerous.

going to mexico is a bi'tch, we went on car to mexico(to guadalajara) some asssholes on a black SUV robbed all the money we had and all the good clothes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif they had automatic weapons so we couldnt do cr'ap .. im never going down there anymore on car ever again.

I just got back from cancun a month ago.No problems whatsoever.Everyone was very nice it was rather pleasent.We stayed at Temptation resort in the hotel zone.Very nice if you can go to Coco Bongo or The City!They have all sorts of $15 open bars all around.

We also rented a small car(like an Aveo) and drove to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen.We did see the miliatary patrols only once though.Alot of cops though.They'll be standing at the lights waving you through so don't pay attention to the light watch the cop!And cross at your own risk.

Next time I plan on going to PDC rather than Cancun.Its much more local and the prices are wayyyyy cheaper!

I seen 1 Federal police the whole time I was there and they had some locals pulled over!Don't think its awhite thing more a curroption thing.
