Transfering music from computer to a flash drive, need help

I'm trying to put all my music cd's onto my computer and then onto my flash drive. I've managed to get them onto the computer and copy them to the flash drive but when I plug the flash drive into my h/u, it says...NO FILE! Can someone help me on this one? I'm sure this is all remedial for you but I'm new to the usb port on my h/u and trying to utilize it.

Thanks for the insight, but I looked and it doesn't tell the user how to make sure the USB is properly formatted.

Apparently, I don't know how to copy music from the media player to a folder.

try this

search for mp3* on your computer

then make a folder in the USB stick that says "music" or similar

find an mp3 song and put it in the music folder of the USB

just try a few songs that are sure to be mp3....I know some units wont play itunes (mp4)

hook it up to your radio and post results

I figured it out, was not ripping the CD's in the right format.

This is great and all but how do you get the actual CD names to display on the h/u or isn't that possible??

Yes its possible to have the name displayed, or spoken as in my set up. It all depends on the programs you use to ID the files and if your HU is capable of displaying it.

iTunes is great for that. You use iTunes to organize your music and it will do it for you. You can also set up other programs that you use to download music, or rip music on a cd, to automatically send the songs in your itunes library.
