Tranny Swap ?

I bought a 91 explorer that needs a tranny. My freind said he has a tranny out of a 96 explorer for $250. Will this tranny work in the 91? I know nothing about explorers or fords.

if its an automatic it wont it has to be 94 or older but if it's a manual it will work
