read through the thread, felt the OP was a dbag, then read his comment, made sense of it all. made me laugh..hahanyways ik you can in WI, you can write your plea and send it in. but actually going to court and saying your sorry, dressed nicely, etc, will score you less of a fine than sending it in.

4.) NO. Seriously, it's never a good idea to run from the police. You generally just make things harder on yourself not to mention your risking your life and the life of everyone that's sharing the road with you.

well, ive heard that, but most say they wont do that. Now, they could if they felt i deserved it i guess. its kinda a long story, so ill make cliffs.

-3 of us riding in a group, we all took off at the same time. I was in the back

-come around a corner, see a car so i back off, car behind said first car comes around the corner and its a cop

-he flips a u turn and throws his lights on, i pull over right away and shut off my bike, buddies keep going

-cop debates to chase or take me

-he is straight pissed i wouldnt dime my buddies out and i told him i just met them and didnt know their name

-said he clocked me at 81 (which is bs, i was looking at my speedo and was around 68

-ticket says 80mph and locked in at 76mph (no idea wtf this means)

-gave me a 60 in a 55 ticket

So, i dont see how he clocked me at said 81, 80, or 76 mph, might of been my buddies in the front. I asked him how he could of gotten me that fast when i was in the back, he was coming around a corner with a car in front of him, and its dark out. he said the group was going that fast, which is bs. Now, i have a clean record before this, so im still debating on fighting it.

Everyone I know that has fought the tickets for 5 over always get written up for the full amount over. Some people I know didnt care about the 5 over, but wanted to fight the points so their insurance didnt go up. Even then the cop increased the points perspective to what they actually were going over. So not only did they end up with more points, they also ended up with more fines. When his story didnt jive you should have asked to see the radar. If he cant produce the proof, the ticket will get thrown out in court. Or if it hasnt been calibrated recently.

I know in California if you're within 5mph of the speed limit (70 in a 65 zone), you can claim radar error and it's done with. Regardless, it's your first offense, does your state not offer traffic school?

There was a few reasons why i didnt take off. Im not sure if he would of chased me or not, a kid took off from the cops a few weeks ago and the cop decided not to chase, but he found the kid dead a few miles up the road.

hmm, thats something to think about. Ill have to talk to a few people around here, and ill ask the court when i go there to pay it tuesday.

Im pretty sure thats what locked on at 76 mph means...i know the radar is 4-5 mph hour from accurate. They do have traffic school, but im not sure if that would work.

Ask about traffic school on tuesday as well, or google some law forums from your state and see what you find. Maybe if you can't do traffic school right out the gate, you can at least request it in court. Though I wouldn't rely on, "I have no previous offenses", being a supporting statement. Been through court for 3 different tickets so far, and so many others in the court room used that and every judge basically said, "Bummer, we're broke, 1 offense is all it takes."

Id just pay it, id rather just pay the minimum than take the risk of him hitting you with the 76 which is alot more expensive and a possible reckless op

76 is 40 bucks more and 4 points total on my license.

Im just quite upset how i stopped, and he gave me a ticket. There is no way he could of radar/lasered me. I was in the back, and he was coming around a corner, at night.

Doesn't really matter brah. I mean, you knew you were speeding...you did the crime, now ya gotta pay up. I got busted for 60 in a 40 awhile back and that shit sucks but it was nobody's fault but my own.

thats what bothers me about it, im the one who pulled over like i should. It was friday night, shouldnt he be busy with drunk drivers instead of bothering me in the middle of a open highway with almost no other traffic?

Cops must just love to give me tickets.. I've been pulled over 5 times, gotten 4 tickets. The killer was the 100+mph one... I didn't care about the fines, it was the insurance I couldn't deal with, so I did everything I could to get the infractions taken care of with traffic school or in court or anything.
