My friend has the HTC touch and hates it

I had the Treo 700, it was ok but I don't like anything that runs windows mobile.

Have the 8830 world edition & love it but it isn't touch screen

Been looking at either the glide ot the Motorola Q phone myself. A little leary of the motorola phone, as my last 2 mot's have been pure crap. The Samsung Glide looks pretty nice, but i need something that I can hook up to the exchange server at work, and I think the q is going to be the one out of those two that can do so. Blackberry's are out for that reason. That HTC is one sweet looking phone, I just don't know if I could drop that kind of coin on one....

Which Q? The Q9c? If so it's a nice phone and a vast improvement over the old Q. If you're talking about the original Q don't do it, its a turd. I went thru 3 of them in a year, all dying from DIFFERENT issues. My friend went thru 2 before he just got something else.

I guess I just need to go down to verizon and play with some phones then come back and ask questions. whatever I get i'll need to have web access to get into my gmail

Ive got the LG dare. Im happy with it. I love the thing for texting. Thats all I do with it really.

I love my Touch just wish I had a physical keyboard. If you use the stylus to write out the letters and do alot of texting/writing with it you will wear out the screen rather quickly. I'll probably end up getting the HTC6800 I believe it is that has the sliding keyboard on it and still have all the touch screen abilities.

The 6800 is a great phone, except for its lack of RAM and physical memory. I would've suggested the touch pro/Fuze, but it is rather flimsy compared to the 6800. It has excellent memory though.

I don't seem to have a problem with my on-screen keyboard. I don't use the stylus either. I'm using the Diamond-style compact keyboard w/T9 with a registry hack for increased screen sensitivity. I coupled that with the BB Storm's simulated "click" and I can type just as fast as a hardware full QWERTY. Just program all of your curse words and your friend's names and you are good to go.

I really should offer a service to re-flash you guy's phones with my custom ROMs. You'll be much happier.

To the OP, there are plenty of options out right now if you don't need the PPC capabilities. Have a look at the:

iPhone (AT&T)

Samsung Instinct (Sprint)

LG Dare (Verizon Wireless)

Samsung Glyde (similar to the Instinct, has physical keyboard) (Verizon Wireless)

Samsung Behold (T-mobile)

Play a movie in high resolution, go landscape, send videomail, go way more than a day without a reset, full browser capabilities (no wap), etc.
