is it ok for your box to have more space than recomended?

example like for a sub with manual that recomends 1 cubic foot of space, is it ok for it to have say 1.5 or even 2? what kinds of effects will this cause?

go easy on me, i know nothing, thanks if anyone replies

It will not *inherently* damage anything. You just need to realize that, first and foremost, with a larger enclosure mechanical power handling is decreased, which then makes it easier to bottom out the subwoofer (with a large enough enclosure, it is possible to damage a subwoofer with less than recommended power).

Beyond that, it will alter the sound of the subwoofer. For sealed enclosures, a larger enclosure will decrease Qtc, which has some sound-altering changes such as flatter frequency response, less overhang/ringing, better low frequency extension, but less overall output.

its two hifonics atlas as12

600w rms each

i was thinking of making a box 14x32x7.5

wich would give me 1.944 cu ft which should be fine for 2 subs requireing 1 ft of cubic ft of space each

am i right?

and what about too little space?
