My cousin and I are building a fiberglass box for 3 type R 12s. My guess is that the box will be about 8 cubic feet. Is this too big? It will be split into seperate chambrs for each sub. This is going to be sealed, becuase we are noobs when it comes to doing the ported stuff, but is this box too big?

Would it be an easy task to make it a ported box instead of sealed, without knowing the exact demensions...?

That is my attempted drawing (side view)...lol.. The lip in front is gonna be about 4 inches high, to make it even with the false floor. The blank part is gonna be fiberglassed. The sides are going to be fiberglassed to the sides of the trunk...

yeah, thats what i figured...thanks though... so final consensus is that it is too big? We havent built it yet, but will be doing so starting on wednesday...so any last tips would be great...

My type R (ive had it since before the hype...like 3 years ago...lol) sounds fine for my extended cab truck. I dont even know how big my box is...lol.. I used to have it in a 1^3 box, and it sounded pretty bad, but my friend gave me his old box..im thinking its a little under 2'^3 and it is pretty loud and it sounds good. I just dont know if 2.5-3 is too big or not.
