To use polyfill or not..

I will soon be getting an Alpine Type R SWR-12D4 12" sub, and a R/T 300 vented enclosure.

I have ready many opinions on using polyfil or not.

The amp is a Rockford Fosgate Prime 750 monoblock, will be running at 2 ohms, 500 w/rms.

I will be getting these in a couple of days. Amp is already installed on an old sub, JL 12W1 (don't like it very much)

without some way to hold it in that enclosure your just going to blow it everywhere.....I only use it in sealed enclosures

You could use wire mesh inside the box near the port to stop polyfil from blowing out. I would recomend building your own enclosure though. If you build it right, polyfill is not necessary.

you shouldn't use polyfill in a ported enclosure

I use dacron for ported enclosures....Smooths it out quite a bit

i've actually seen polyfill catch on fire before from the heat produced by subs
