To Go Active or Not

Well, I recently bought a members Alpine CDA-9855 to try something different than my Eclipse CD8454.

I am debating on whether or I should run my front components active and do without rear fill.

Or, if I should just wire everything up normal and use the 2Way Mode on the 9855 (with rear fill).

Can I use 3Way on the 9855 with rear fill?

My front setup will be the following:

Kicker Resolution RS6 Components in the Front Doors

CDT TW19 Image Enhancement Tweeters in the Sail Panels

CDT CL61 Components in the Rear Deck

Kicker KX650.4

Kicker KX1200.1

3 Ascendant Audio Arsenal 12's

Any suggestions?

Go active. Or you can bi amp them. I tried that, but ended up going active, I love it with my prs, tons of adjustment at your finger tips, almost tooo much, have to keep eyes on the road!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I was worried about ditching the x-overs cause they had a protectiopn light/fuse in them, but Ive run amazing amounts of power through my comps with nothing blown and dont even smell band aids anymore. Im running a jl 300/4 bridged to the woffers and an alpine 100x2 to the tweets, speakers are old school MBQ reference.

Yeah, I am going to go ahead and do it Weds morning when I get off work. I am not going to use the speakers in the rear deck though. In fact, I am just going to remove them. Who knows, maybe it will allow for a little more air to move into the cabin from the subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

By wiring these up active, will I notice an audible difference?

Well, I installed my CDA-9855 today and made a few adjustments with the PEQ, X-overs, Time Correction, etc.

My tweeters don't seem to handle the power with this deck???

If the volume is up past 24 the tweeters start to pop and crack. The gain is all the way down (literally) and that helped a bit. I even set some of the bands to -5 up in the tweeter range.

Any ideas?

Actually, I just got finished correcting the problem. I seemed to have had the speakers wires at the amp's speaker inputs crossed somehow. So, guess the tweeters were trying to play the lows. LOL.

At any rate, the problem is solved. Everything sounds great!

The poor SQ from your tweeters is likely due to h/u clipping and THD. It's okay to run tweeters from the H/U but it's a pain. Like taxi said, increase the x-over on the tweets and that should help take some of the stress off.

? Why do you think I am running the tweeters of the deck?

I am running them to the KX650.4 in an active setup with the deck's X-over doing the work.
