Tired of waiting for Sundown

Been waiting and waiting for an SCV-1500d and its getting old. I was thinking about getting a Soundqubed 1200.2D instead. My Fi SSD's are the old models and are rated for 800rms each so I would run them at 1 ohm. The SQ gives me 1300rms @ 1ohm and the Sundown is 1500rms. I figure I could get the SQ, save $160, blow my current old amp setup out of the water, and buy the Q4-90 with the saved money for my front and rears. Any thoughts? What would you do with about a $500-$600 amp budget in my situation?

Never looked at that amp...I like it a lot! DD doesn't do internet sales though correct? Are the prices set by DD or do the retailers get to charge whatever they want?

Dealer only. The dealer will set the price. Walk in with cash and you can normally set a reasonable price. I want to say I paid $300 but my dealer gave me a deal on all my stuff.

its never a bad thing to have extra power on tap. however, I recommend you got with the soundqubed 1200

Let me just take a minute to complain about Digital Designs setup up for sales...

I call three DD authorized dealers and this is the response I get...

dealer A response after I ask what the price is on a DD M1D

dealer A: "What size is it"

me: "It's an amp..."

dealer "oh let me check...we only have the A2 and A4 do you want one of those?"

me "no"

dealer A "Call dealer B and see if they have it"

now I ask dealer B if they have a DD M1D

dealer B "Do you want to buy it"

me "I want to know if you have it and if you do have it how much does it cost"

dealer B " What is it again? Is that a sub?"

me "no. Digital designs M1D...its an amp"

dealer B "Let me check...I can order one for you, do you want to buy it?"

me "How much is it?"

dealer B "$550. Do you want me to order for you?

me "no" (I think we can all agree that amp isn't worth $550 and I'm not buying it from that guy)

Now asking Dealer C the same question. I get the same "what is that" "I don't have one" "I can order it for you"

This time $599. I tell him no as well, not worth it. Given this experience I'd hate to have to deal with their customer service for a repair. Sure I could walk in with $400 cash and try playing the game but you know what? If DD doesn't respect the value of my time enough to not make me jump through hoops to buy their products with my hard earned cash they can get bent. I'll take my money elsewhere...to many fish in the sea.

Digital Designs? I'll pass...

If no dealer is local to you they will sell to you direct. But you can't get any type of deal will be MSRP.

I know I know but I feel like if I'm paying for 2000watts and not using 500, couldn't I have spent the same amount of money on 1500watts of better quality product? That being said a 2000watt rms amp for $200 scares me...reminds me of high school when every one had Lanzar and Pyle 1000watt MAX POWER! amps.
