TINY amplifiers?

Well, like I mentioned, it's a headphone amp, but I want on CHEAP. I can easily create the power needed for a car amp, and they are usually cheaper than headphone amps.

I have a vacuum tube amp with the output I want, but it's attached to a turntable and one helluva FM reciever, so I'm not ripping it out just yet. Plus it's about as efficient as an SUV. =p

Efficiency is for girly-men. Real amplifiers glow in the dark.

There's an auction I'm watching on Ebay...if I win it, I'll share the design with ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Actually it's not a headphone amp per se, but you could always replace the stock output trannys...

here ya go. little more power than you need, not the ultra highest quality eaither, but oh well - it will amp up them phones like crazy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know you mean well, req, but my headphones are overrated at 500 milliwatts peak power handling. I think 30 times their rated power is going overboard. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

lol, i dont know what to tell you then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how bout get some new headphones //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Are there any car amps that are made a
oh, for headphones. sure. look for headwize for some schematics if you want.

if the source has sufficient voltage gain, you may only need something like a classA output stage (easiest to build).

also national semiconductors makes some headphone amplifier ICs. you can get samples.

You can use 2 9V batteries to get a +-9V supply.

look on the intgernet for something called a CMOY. I built a couple of those in a altoids can. then you could experiment with different OPamp chips for different types of sound. I got some big caps on the amp I made it makes the bass hit harder.

I read into those, and frankly the above mentioned kit would be less expensive and easier to build, but I wouldn't have a choice as to what components I use. Most of the tutorials say "Newbies who just want a headphone amp will probably save money in the end buying a commercial amp"

I dunno. Penny wise, pound foolish, I won't spend $15 on it, and spend $30 on something much more random and useless.
