can you tint plexiglass? i have a idea to buy some of that 1/8" plexi select products sell and put like 2 1/2% tint over it and cut out a design in the tint with a exacto knife to make a plaque that i could side light with a led small neon tube or something. but i think i read somewhere you cant tint plexi.

an etched logo in the plexi lit with leds, would look cooler

cut the design out on a rubber mat, lay that on the box then sand blast the design in the plexi, remove mat and you have a sunken etched design.

I got black vinyl, and had the logos cut out so that the light would shine through the opening. Here is a picture. Most sign shops provide this service, it cost me $25. Good luck.

blast with a sand blaster. If you do not have one I am sure you could find a local person to do it cheap.

my high school autotech class has a sandblaster. **** that thing was fun to use. except the fact the gloves make your hands stink and the freakin thing cloging up every minute. i also think i heard of a liquid i you could put on plexi to etch it

^ that would be a good thing. anybody know where to find a portable sand blaster? i saw a guy useing one, and it had no air compresser lines running to it, or any kinda air lines running to it. it looked like an air horn, with a lil tank for the sand? anybody know about this? or where i can get one. thanks

You wont find a media blaster that doesnt require air(I dont know of any at least). So you will need some type of compressor/air tank to keep it pressurized. There are some pretty cheap ones at http://www.harborfreight.com

Search for 'blaster'.
