Time for a change

Right now I am running my (4) Avalanche 15's in my suburban, but I am ready to put them back in the HT (they started there, but went to the suburban just for a little fun time).

I am looking at trying (16) 10" subs sealed. I need single 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm coils for a final load of 1 ohm. Each sub will get around 250 watts (amp is a Lanzar OPTI4000D). I could also do (15) dual 4 ohm coil subs with a final load of 1.2 ohms.

My goal is each sub would be around $50 (including shipping). Right now, I am looking at the Pioneer TS-W256C for $56 shipped. The only other options I have considered are: 1. Waiting for Chad's new Assassin 10", or 2. (15) RE10's and wire them @ 1.2 ohms.

Anyone have any other suggestions for 10" subs around $50-60 each?

Thanks!

Brian

So I went with (16) Panasonic 10's. Got a heck of a deal through my Panasonic rep.

Seem like nice drivers looking at the build quality. I'll follow up whenthey are installed!!

Here is the picture. Not quite done.

Need to:

Add stuffing.

Seal each driver with rope caulk and add remaining screws.

Move the amp to the front side of the box.

Don't look at the woodworking; that is my (4) AVA 15 box that has been made over with a skill saw. It is not pretty, but nothing bondo and a sander can't fix if I decide to stick with this setup. . . (like that will happen).

Specs:

(16) Custom Panasonic 10" 4 ohm subs.

13 ft^3 gross, sealed.

Lanzar OPTI4000D @ 1ohm

I am very happy. To the ear, it is not quite as loud as the AVA 15's on some songs, but it is more "even" with different songs. By that I mean, no more having only a few songs that really sound good. The bass in everything I have tried so far sounds awesome and gets more than enough loud for a daily driver.
