they almost have to exist but i never come across any... besides a headunit is there any time correction hardware out there... that doesnt cost an arm and a leg.. ill probaly just gonna end up buying a alpine 9887 sometime in the near future... but before i do... figure i would check with you ppl first.

If you can find a PPI DCX-730 on the forums or ebay, that was a decent affordable DSP that offered time alignment along with good xover/EQ options.

I do not believe there are any stand-alone TA products on the market as that's quite a waste, frankly. If you are already tinkering in the digital domain, might as well add other useful features such as xover/EQ to the product.

THe 9887 is an awesome deck. I have one in my wife's car and can't believe the difference it made. I can't wait to get the tuning kit and do the 6 posistion mic placement tuning on it.

the H701 and controller can be used kind of stand alone-ish. although, that does alot more than just time alignment.

time alignment is pretty pointless IMHO though, unless you are aligning speakers from the back of the bus to the front... ive used it in the past, and did not like the results. sound travels too fast for it to make a difference in 99.9% of installs.

I meant there's no unit on the market that only does time alignment.

Sorry hoss, can't say I really agree with anything in this section of your post.

It certainly can and does affect the sound. Our ability to localize sound in the lower frequency range (midbass/lower midrange) is based primarily on time arrival.

Maybe your TA was broke ?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

when i used it on my 9815 it just didnt really have a pleasant effect. i could tell a slight difference, but it wasnt something i was that interested in. id be willing to try it again i suppose, might be better now that i dont have my hopes up.

well the main reason i want it is to help my subs blend better... and i just bought a 30 band eq... lol so thats why i was just looking to TC the subs... but if i buy the 9887 - i guess the 30 band eq wont be completely useless..

maybe i should make it and become a millionare =)

Chances are good your sub blending issues could be cured with a combination of level adjustments, phase and crossover selection along with possible a little EQ work.

But if you bought an analog 30 band EQ then yes, for the most part it will be useless if you actually want to use the features of the 9887 (unless the EQ has multi-channel input).

well ill tune it up with the eq - see how it sounds after that..

i got a good deal on it so worst case senario ill sell it...

i wouldnt be able to afford alot of this stuff for a couple months anyway and got bigger installation issues to worry about really

Get your EQ'ing, crossover settings, level adjustments etc... all set right before you even think about needing T/A on your sub stage. While it can help, its the least likely of all those possible adjustments to make any substantial improvement.

yea you're prolly right - the real reason i bought the eq is cause i rta'd my speakers and have a mean peak throughtout the 1-4 k range and another one at 2k... i equalized a song acocrding to this. and it sounded alot better.. at first my speakers didnt seem as loud at the same volume cause it didnt have that piercing sound.. but with those frequencies adjusted - the mids sounded alot better and the whole radio sounded a lot fuller.. which helped the subs blend better already

I think T/A helps whole lot. After getting the concept and learning how to implement it, I feel that it is a must in my system and will be in my future systems.

If you were to sit in my car and hear the differences with T/A on and off, it'll be like night and day when it comes to imaging.

Whether it's of the electronic nature or physically done, managing your ITD's is critical to good sound....and that's not open to dispute.
