Well here we are in our on going series of people who just don't get it. I was waiting for my friend who rides with me to work today ready to go home and a new younger employee was bumping his subs. It sounded hidious. Well I went over to try to maybe help him out and the first thing I asked him was had you ever tried dynamat? He looked at me like he had just seen a ghost. Bewildered, and dumbfounded. So I took a closer look at his system. OMG! LOL. 2 15' Pyles, real quality huh, anyway he had 2 amps that looked bad and I never even heard of. He said that they didn't have enough power to push those subs. Really? His vehicle rattled so bad I thought I might just fall apart. To his credit his box was fairley nice. Once again, why spend all of that money to have a system sound like garbage and not do any homework or tweeking whatsoever?? Pityfull! Hopefully if not me someone will he this guy out. Will continue to monitor the situation LOL...

I honestly don't understand how people get sucked into those low end brands? If someone is going to make an investment as large as a audio system, shouldn't they do a little research before purchasing their equipment. When I first got into the audio scene (inspired & motivated by my sister //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) I went with Rockford Fosgate, which isn't a bad first setup.

My first sub was a pioneer 12" in a Q-logic bandpass box from bestbuy. Luckily I bought a RF amp and I am still using that. When the time came to buy another sub I did my homework and ended up with my diamond 12. I try to help people help with their first audio system whenever I can because I learned from my mistake early on.

Everybody has to start somewhere..

When you build your first system, its not at an obsession level so

price is a large consideration...Buying low end is a normal progression

My first system was garbage but then as I got older and wiser I started

to upgrade as the garbage I was running failed on me.

What I see is most of these young kids go out and buy a subwoofer and a amplifier and Whaa Laa they have a " system ". The only thing they care about is can all the other ppl around me here my bass going boom, boom, rattle and shake. Does'nt matter what it sounds like in the inside, it's what it sound like on the outside. They need the attention, to be noticed. Just hoping and praying that some other person or persons will look over at him and say, " dude bad azz system ". Then you know what happens after he accomplishes that right? Instant popularity, the cool dude with the killer sound system. Ah, thats funny as hell. Kids these days.

A example: When selling my 2 12" Alpine Type X's. I went and met up with the guy (about 17 or 18 yr.old ) and told him all about the subs showed them to him, as I still had them hooked up so he could here them. I asked him are you ready to here them? Of course he said, hell yea. So I start up my trooper and unlock the passenger door and opened the door partially for him to get in. He closes the door and walks about 25ft from my ride as I am playing the music. He then goes further away 50ft and then about a 100 ft. I'm thinking what the hell is this dingle berry doing? Not once did he get inside of the vehicle. It was all about if those subs would be able to get loud enough to be heard from a distance. Not once did he ask how much power I had going to the subs or anything else for that matter. To end the story he told me he would give me $300.00 for the 2 Type X's in a custom built vented enclosure built to specs. I laughed, looked at him and laughed again. I think he got the picture. I still laugh when I think about that idiot.

Later......

I guess there are 2 mind sets

The smarter people who like good music and sound

and the dumbass's who just wanna bump for the sake of making noise

ignorant follower types IMO

The sound my car makes from far away is not even a thought in my mind

actually I prefer is my car was silent once the doors were closed(impossible but desirable) so I can bathe in the sound man! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif groovy

I agree. It kinda sucks that you just can'nt crank it up all the time. D*MN sound ordinances. I drive a hour to work and an hour and a half back home ( traffic ). Thats the only time I get to really turn it up, halling azz down the highway. But it does make the commute to work a whole hell of alot better.

This isnt a first. Ive converted a few at my school to high end product...but there are more to get through to. As i do more and more installs people come around.

Friend of mine was amazed when 4 RE 8's where louder than 2 JL w6 12's in a prefab box, same power. Sounded just as good. and the 4 RE 8's fit under his back seat where the 2 W6's took up most of his back seat. and that is just in recent casses.

another was amazed when a single 18 that cost $300 got louder than his 4 w1v2's in a box from the audio shop that cost him $350. I told him when he mentioned he was spending 2100 for a system that i could get him louder for the same price, especiall since he was just insterested in letting people know he was loud and didnt give 2 rats ***** what it sounded like. I could barely ride in his truck because hte bass sounded like farts and the mids and highs where screachingly loud, not smooth at all.

In respose to a couple of comments, yes I agree with everbody has to start somewere. He did what one guy said to a tee. got him a couple of bumbleweed amps and subs and called it a system. I got to talk to the guy today at work to find out exactly what was going on a try to help him. No front stage, all stock speakers, and a head unit that I wouldn't even call aftermarket. so what we have here is a bump, thump and flop. He seems to be willing to try some of my suggestions in the future. Believe me this man is not a teenager just in his twenties though. But for now we will have to settle for the hidious. LOL
