thud from subs

here's the goods; alpine CDA- 9831 HU. sony XM-D500 (2 O stable) amp, 6 explode subs.

Everytime I change the track or the source mode i get a nasty thud through the subs. Only those two operations nothing else. I'm told it's a grounding issue but what about it. I have 4awg ground bugged together with my other grounds (from diferent amps) on a distro block. From there, there's a 2 O cable bolted to the chassis. Anyone have any ideas???????

Thanx in Advance

First you need to un-ghettofy your system. The grounds should be the same size cable as the power cable. The thud you hear is most likely due to the poor construction of the sony amp.

How do you have the subs wired? If I'm guessing correctly.. the load you are running on that amp is much lower than 2 ohms.

The subs are wired parrallel pos (amp) to each of three pos on subs. the neg (amp) to pos on the other three subs then all the negs are series to each other. As far as grounds I have the same size power and ground going to/from the amp. it's just the ground goes to a distro block with 2 o to chassis for neatness. U have anymore help

Mine does the same thing. It does it when I change sources and when I change the radio station and when I go from mute to un-mute. I turned the amp down and it still does it but not nearly as bad. I can only hear it when I have my trunk open.
