well i just got done reading this article...http://www.installer.com/tech/aiming2.html

i am in the process of making a custom box to fit in my back seats where the bottom cushion was. (honda prelude)

the seats are more of paper or trash holders cause there is no room to put anyone back there, and i want to get some more trunk space...

well i am now curious, will the subs sound anygood in the cab? or to get best sound they need to be in the trunk? i know there will be at least less distortion in the cab...

so i through my prefab with my comps in it in the back seat, they sound okay?....the trunk lid isn't vibrating my brain off anymore....

so whats your take? do systems sound good in the cab or do they belong in the trunk?

i guess hatch's and suv's are in the cab tooo...

?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Does your system sound fine to you with your speakers where the useless back seats used to be? If so, then what is the issue?

IIRC the subs facing away in the trunk have the waves reflect off the rear and increase your SPL due to the Doppler effect. Of course the Doppler effect can work against you due to cancellations of certain frequencies.

Another think you can try is to crack your windows or open your sunroof with your subs in the cab. I have heard some swear that this makes the system seem louder by letting some of those standing waves out of the vehicle.

Lastly, if you think having speakers (ETA SUBWOOFERS) in the cab is a bad idea, I am sure that plenty of pickup truck owners would disagree with you on that one!

cool....honestly...i just shouldn't take everything i read to be the bible....

i think the sound quality is much much better when they are inside the cab...so cool...

just needed someone to agree w me i suppose.....

The only thing I will recommend, although you probably already know this, is make sure you mount your box down extra secure! When I was hit nearly head on in my 2007 Accord Sedan, the two 1/2" bolts securing the subwoofer enclosure in the trunk tore through the floor of the trunk and ruined both my enclosure and Memphis amp. I just left the 10" sub in there because I was so disgusted with the aftermath. My attorney says I can expect a check next month for my damages!

i know that was my logic, hatches and suv's are "in cab"....

and yea, its gonna be fastened down...somehow..still kind of in design phasish...

no i just have to decide where i want my subs to face, up, in slightly or towards me....
