im gunna go ahead and use 5/8" threaded rod to re-do the braces in my box.

what im not sure about is if i use a threaded rod to brace the box vertically, where the rod comes out on the bottom and the nut screws on, wont this cause the box to sit uneven? is there a way to get around this?

I ain't gotta clue how it will make it sit, but what i do got is threaded rod and much of it. Anywhere from 3/8" to 1 1/4" diameter. For 5/8" I got 10" rod all the way up to 40" rod.

ill def keep you in mind, but i gotta sorta figure this out first.

any other help? i know the box wont sit flush/flat if theres a piece of rod and a nut sticking out the bottom, but i def need a vertical brace or two.

Yeah, what has already been said. Or, in my case, my box actually sits on 2x4's to clear the hump in my hatch so the bolt doesn't matter.

ehh, i could always raise the whole box off the floor with 2x4's considering i still need to bolt this thing to the floor.

i got some planning to do first.

Sorry for the sad sounding question, but why do you use threaded rod for bracing???
i dont like the wooden dowels, and the box flexes like crazy without them. i need some type of bracing, just have to figure something out.

carriage bolt through the bottom counter sink enough for the head to be inside the wood then a coupling to the rod
that'd work too.

So you run this threaded rod through the top and bottom of the box, well you could always use the threaded rod as the mounting solution as well. Just drill holes in the floor pan;

nut

washer

top of enclosure

washer (inside box)

nut (inside box)

nut (inside box)

washer (inside box)

bottom of enclosure

floor pan of car/truck/tank

washer (under floorpan of vehicle)

nut (under floorpan of vehicle)

Now you have a level sitting enclosure, with threaded rod braces and a strong mounting setup as well, maybe???
