ewwwww. I don't blame you. i guess i shoulda asked how his electrical was before suggesting that, as well.

I have stock alt and stock spec battery and its a lexus is300

Thing is my voltage was at 13.6 when it happened and the thing didn't quit playing or smoking until I cut power to it!

to get 2000 clean watts at 12 volts, you would require 166 amps. Even at 14 volts its 143 amp. If you were playing it full tilt for more than a few minutes at a time something had to give.

*I think you can get away with 2000 rms on a decnt stock alt, btw, but you need more than 1 battery as a buffer.

yeah i was thinking about running it off of one cannel at 3 ohm (my dmm reads 3.7 at the box terminal)

goingdef is right. one channel at 3 ohms is probably your best bet.
