Thoughts on Dynamat

I plan on upgrading my ride this summer, and one of things I want to add is dynamat as I hear good things about it. Whats the general consensus here?

Also looking at the installation instructions for the door on this page:

http://www.dynamat.com/technical_installation_door_kit_install.html

does the speaker get covered by the dynamat or does the dynamat go behind the speaker?

I was thinking about just doing the doors and trunk as I can do that myself (I hope) and I dont think I have the skill or tools to get to the roof/floor/engine area for dynamat. I hope this will make a good difference and stop my car from rattling as much. Does this sound like it will make a good improvement or do I REALLY need to go all the way and try to get everything else done too?

dynamat on the door frame behind speaker.

Doors and trunk are the most effective. I dont know why you would dynamat the engine area..

I would also suggest raamat or second skin as an alternative

do go with dynamat here go here buy this

or go with raammatt , second skin
Hey, when you get your fatmat installed, let me know how you like it. That one guy rudy got me all freaked out saying how it is just peel and seel with a FatMat logo on it. Is pretty thin and not sure if I want to use it because it is not byutal based. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I used it on the floor and backwall of my truck a few years back. A few layers of it and it did good. I heated the shit outta it and rolled it on good though. I personally wouldn't trust it for anything but the floor of a vehicle. I used dynamat extreme for the roof/doors. The dynamat went on 100 times easier.

I'm guessing its probably the same thing as peel n seal. Asphalt with some aluminum sheeting.

Did your backwall hold up to it? I heard a couple complaints that it would fall off or shift after time. I bought 100sqft of it, lol! So will just double layer it if I have too. I am thinking of using this in my doors and maybe roof or floor and getting the 62.5sqft package of Rammat BXT to do the trunk. Then again, I am sick of spending money, but I don't want to do all this work and have it come out like shit! So.............Bahhhhhhhhh!

Also that is what the one Rudy guy said, who seems to know his Deadener, about FatMat is peel and seal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

bigbang i'll be sure to let u know. plus it was cheap in my budget to ya know:D.
Will do mang! Might want to double or triple it up. Is pretty thin stuff. Plus it was in my budget too, although I could have spent the extra dough, but like I said saving for a house. So I am trying to cut costs when I have too. When you putting yours on? I imagine it is still cold were you are too.

lol, for the money it costs to do double or triple layer of that stuff, you can just use that and put one layer of the decent stuff on.

I sold the truck before I had a chance to give it the long haul test. I will say that I could apply the fatmat (heat and roll) and rip it back off if I wanted to. Edges peeled back as well. I rolled the dynamat on with no heat and couldn't rip it back off like the fatmat.

Remember if you double layer the fatmat on a vertical surface all you are doing is adding more weight for the asphalt/adhesive to try and hold up, I wouldn't do that personally.

Thats good news in re-guards to ripping back off just in case.

So no on doubling up on verticle spots huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif It is true though and see your point, so thanks. I guess I will do the doors in fatmat and order some Rammat. More money I didn't want to spend.
