Thoughts on Clarion HU's...

Specifically the Clarion DXZ855MP. Im thinking of getting one. How good are they? Any problems with them?

ive got the same model. Minor problems u cant go active with the HU, sloe load time on MP3's, and doesnt play scratched cd's, the most minor scratches sometimes dont play on these things. SQ is decent. The display is not expandable for downloads. I just wish it had a real good crossover on it and it would be great. But as far as that goes its pretty decent

I had the 945, never had any trouble with it.

Id recommend them.

What does 'active' mean? I'm using an amp for the speakers now and one for the subs? (sorry for asking such a n00b question)

And its really picky on cds...That sucks because my cds always get scrached.

active basically means to have a built in crossover in the HU. U got to use like an external crossover to really get in depth with the sound if your real picky. But i can due without, Do u already have one cause i would be willing to sell mines for a good price. Its about 4 months old grat condition, still have the box and everything

No I dont have one now. I have a nice HU now but it has a skipping problem when I go over bumps. I'm going to try to see if I can fix it before I get a new one.
