no. but they did have protesters thinking that they would create a black hole that would envelope the earth. some scientists even thought it was possible.didnt they actually create some dark matter in one of the hyper collider's (sp?) in Europe?
maybe im wrong... i just thought i remembered hearing something about it
anyways, i really dont know much about this stuff at all but im enjoying teh reading of this thread very much... please contiue
yeah, i do remember that fiascono. but they did have protesters thinking that they would create a black hole that would envelope the earth. some scientists even thought it was possible.
I always wonder why dark matter doesnt interact with light?dark matter and dark energy. although it's existance is hypothetical.
They will/are planning to use devices such as the Large Hadron Collider to try to figure out what dark matter is, etc.didnt they actually create some dark matter in one of the hyper collider's (sp?) in Europe?
maybe im wrong... i just thought i remembered hearing something about it

we are still in the same place as 20 years ago. we havent really gone anywhere that we havent been in the last 20 years.look where we were 20 years ago...
where the hell will we be in another 20?
****
it's not a hop skip and jump, to go from the speed of sound, to the speed at which we need to effectively travel in space. it's a huge gap in technology between the 2.we are still in the same place as 20 years ago. we havent really gone anywhere that we havent been in the last 20 years.
No one can really answer that until we figure out what the stuff is.I always wonder why dark matter doesnt interact with light?
is there an accepted rate at which time slows down per the speed you travel?Another question that needs to be asked is;
If we ever do figure out a way to safely travel at the speed of light (or even a significant fraction of the speed of light), is it even moral or ethical to send a human on such a journey considering the effect it would have on the travelers perception of time compared to the Earth? For even a short journey (from traveler's perspective), the Earth (and the people on it) as they knew it would not exist upon their return.
