Just wondering...is the 9887 the deck where you can touch it and slide?

No that was the 9855, and a few others.

I have to take out my whole HU and check on the side of the HU to see if it's STD or NW right>

Every 880 comes default to STD. So unless you flipped the switch to NW when it was installed, you're in STD.

An easy way to tell is go to your audio settings for your sub crossover If you can go below 50Hz for your sub channel you're in NW. STD won't go below 50.

I too recently purchased the Pioneer Premier P800PRS. It replaced my Mobile ES Sony CDX-C90 with a the Sony Mobile ES XDP-766EQ Digital Signal Processor. Going to be difficult to get as good of sound. Was extremley difficult to finally change out my system. It sounded amazing but with limitations on only able to play cd's or cd-r's. I wanted the ability to play MP3's. I still need to make adjustments and tweak the sound. So far I am pretty impressed. I am using STD mode for now.

I have one question, does yours change illumination radomely from the black background with white text to the reverse white background with the black text??? When I look at the clock it will sometimes be in a white background and sometimes in a black background. Kinda hard to put in writing. Another way to explain it is I have the spectrum analyzer set as my default display and it will randomly change back and forth from the black to white. Does yours do the same? Seems kinda odd to just radomely change the way it does. I have never owned a Pioneer head unit so I need to know if it is suppose to do this or something is not set right or wrong.

You can change that in the settings, change the reverse settting, I forget exactly what its called, but its in the function menu with the unit off.
