Those of you with Viper1200.1's

I have began to wonder though why so many are refurbished. TeamCSW told me that thiers were sent back for QC based on unsat cosmetics, but what about all these from Ike. hmmm

I am thinking the exact same thing. How can their be that many refurbed Vipers?

Happen to try switching the pwr and grnd around? I blew a few fuses that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif
Hold on, So you switched the power, pointing it to the - marking and the ground to the + marking on the amp and it worked? Was it blowing fuses having it the normal way Postive to + and Negative to - ?

My viper worked for 20 mins on half gain @ 1ohm, no bass boost before the fuses blew. Sounded decent too. Better then my Hifonics Brutus 1500.

If they were reversed it would blow them automatically.

Well, maybe they were just QC units:confused:
i read somewhere that directed shut down thier viper line because they thought 3 amp lines were unecessary. (orion, directed, viper). so when they did that all the vipers left in the various factories were badged as refurbished and checked for any problems before selling them to the public as refurbished items. so these amps should be great, IMO almost brand new! lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

The one I received was skuffed up pretty good and definately used.

Because my PG 500.2 and Hifonics Brutus 1500 work fine on the same wiring //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And for the original poster who wants to see if they have a short. Do this.

Take a multimeter, switch it to ohms. Connect the red postive lead of the mutlimeter to the postive power cable at the location where it connects to your amp. If it reads 0, you have ground interference, causing a short.
Ok, and where do you put the other lead?? You can't read ohms with one lead...it has to go from one point to another, if you only touch one lead you're going to get OL, because the resistance of air is many millions of ohms.

That's exactly the point. If it reads 0 then it's being grounded somewhere along the line. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if I had a short in the system, I doubt the amp would even turn on. A few minutes ago, I checked the voltage, ~12v car off, and turned the gains up a little bit to get full power out of it. Im just confused as to why it gets so warm so fast running at a fraction of its potential.
