Those of you with Viper1200.1's

If you have low voltage, you must have high current to maintain the same power. With lower power, there is less heat, so I am failing to see how low voltage would cause more heat.
The amps will get warm espeically when playing hard. If you think it gets too hot, contact ikesound and see what they have to say, but do not automatically come to the conclusion that these amps just **** ***.
x2 and to ss

Im confused. You said you touched your amps to see how warm they were, and tehy werent warm enough to burn you. What amp? Does it have a huge seatsink or is it fan cooled?

viper1200.1, as stated in the thread title //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Well, as I askedearlier, is Ike an authorized repairer? Mine was bought from teamCSW on eBay and the amps they sold were refurbished directly by DEI, and I have never, ever, seen one single complaint about an amp bought from them. And when I bought mine, there was something like 220 d1200.1's left (two years ago).

Actually it is the amps fault.
Many other folks have had the same problems with their Vipers 1200s..

I don't really see how that proves anything at all.

I havn't had any problems with blowing fuses, and the amp puts out great power... It just gets uncomfortabally warm for me. My other amp, a crunch V-600 gets even hotter... and its a two channel class D amp running at 4 ohms to a set of RE comps. It got just as hot when I had it attached to my back seat, so there should be more to it than just a lack of ventiallation.

Could faulty wiring be a cause of the amp getting too hot? I am embarrased to say I have a few places where the wiring is a bit ghetto-rigged.

I didn't buy mine off ikesound... but its a refurb from DEI as stated on the box it came in.

I got it from a user here on the forums, who got it from Competition Soundworks on ebay.
teamCSW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Email them and tell them your problems. They were more than happy to work with me when I had cosmetical issues with mine.

EDIT:

The reason I ask is because I sold mine to a user on one of these forums, and sent it in the DEI box, and told him it was from CSW.

I have began to wonder though why so many are refurbished. TeamCSW told me that thiers were sent back for QC based on unsat cosmetics, but what about all these from Ike. hmmm

Those gay *** terminals sometimes are hard to use.
How can you blame the amp if you do not even know the cause of the problem yet...

Because my PG 500.2 and Hifonics Brutus 1500 work fine on the same wiring //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And for the original poster who wants to see if they have a short. Do this.

Take a multimeter, switch it to ohms. Connect the red postive lead of the mutlimeter to the postive power cable at the location where it connects to your amp. If it reads 0, you have ground interference, causing a short.

Happen to try switching the pwr and grnd around? I blew a few fuses that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif
