im currently running a pair of 12" kicker compvrs pushed by memphis 500d amp

i want to keep the amp... and upgrading the subs for now... im on a small budget, and listen to mainly rap

alpine type r's are a very reliable woofer imho and given enough power they will pound good

With 500 watts rms, you might as well get an e12k or a shiva. Both are louder than the type r's and sound better. I have ~500 watts and about $150 to work with, and I am going to get an e12k.

i say e12k is a good idea...im throwing mine 600+ in a sealed box and im very pleased

thanks for the ideas... but im lookn to get a pair of subs that will out perform my compvrs with the same amp .... my budgets right round 240ish a pair.

well, Im gonna hafta argue for the R's this time.

If you look at ANY SPL graph on any program (winISD etc..)

the Alpines will come out on top. the SPL is greater by about 1 DB every time I've looked at it.

However, the elementals will sound better, the alpines have a big delay at large wattages.
