Here's everything laid out nice and pretty:

Well I switched my amps yesterday and now the Zapco is on the tweets and the DLS fronts are running the mids. Those who subscribe to the "watt is a watt" theory need to come sit in my drivers seat for a few minutes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Both amps are rated at 75 watts rms per channel, but some how the Zapco has an incredible ablilty to produce a much more dynamic, layered, transparent and "busy" sound. And it seems like my mids have bit more pop to them now with the DLS on them.

One song that I always use to test my system is Sublime's "Garden Grove" because it has sweet bass line and it's very layered in the highs with sounds like dogs barking, people at a party, etc. With the Zapco on the highs now, it litterally sounds like that dog is coming right of the dash at me. Also it's more realistic - like I am just sitting there listening to Brad (R.I.P) strumming his guitar on my hood. Yea I know I'm a bit neerdy, but I thought I would try to articulate my findings rater than just say "Itz da bomb shizit yo!" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Hey John...how did you go about making sure when you switched you level matched EXACTLY? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I used my level silly....actually both amps are a still a little off since my car kinda sits at an angle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ok yea I did set the gains with a DMM with the appropriate test tones in the range amplified. I'm not sure if the tones are recorded at -3db or what, in fact, it the best way to do it. I just downloaded some off the internet a while ago and have been using them ever since.

But yea, I attempted to control for the effect of power by matching each amps output voltage with respect to impedence.

So with the HU cranked to 70/80 I set the DLS fronts to 17.3v (75w into 4 ohm) and the Zapco to 17.3v also because the amp indicated clipping well before 21.2v (75w into 6 ohm). Actually on the Zapco the gain is set at it's lowest position possible and the level on the BLT at 0db and it indicates clipping when the HU volume gets to between 68-71 on mutiple test tones played within the amplified range. I attribute this to be due to the fact that I'm using the simbilink system in addition to a 16v balanced signal from the HU. Any thoughts here??

Looks good Fox. So I take it you finally went active.

Just curious about something. Did you test the tweets at the sail panels or did the A-pillars yielded better results?

Yep took the plunge and now I'm just learning how to doggie paddle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I did try the sail pannels, but did not like them. I read your post on diyma, and was going to comment, but you beat me to it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Basically I felt by moving them to the A pillar position it allowed for better imaging and gave my left ear a break as the left tweet was the closest speaker to my ear. It seemed like I couldn't correct well enough with T/A to make the sail panel postion work.

I might try them in the factory kicks (see pics) but I just can't imagine how the system will sound with my leg in the way of 2 out of 4 speakers. You never know though.

I popped the A pillar off yesterday and did I think I have enough room for that baby to fit in there....at least it looks deep enough. I need to figure out how to secure the tweet to the plastic though. Any ideas??

You're paddling two weeks ahead of me! Thanks for the confirmation about the sail panels vs. A-pillars. You're right about one thing, processesing with the tweets in the sail panels never yielded any comofortable results.

Again, props on the good looking install and fine pictures for us to see.

Thanks. I guess the only way you will know is if you try.
