I would trust Dual more than Boss, but that's not saying much. This is a great entry level receiver:

I guess I didn't mention that I already have the dual in my possession so I wasn't really looking to spend any money on something else if the dual will do.

Eh, it's the kind of head unit I would recommend to just about anyone to return for exchange if that's still an option. Spending money twice because the first go-around is a disappointment is never fun.

So your tryna cheap out of the source unit?? That's not gonna fly man. Surely you can find a pretty good unit for 100-150. In fact, I have a Clarion cz702 that I got from ebay, 120 bucks new in the box shipped to my door. Look around for a good used one. CL, offerup, etc.
