This may be strange, but 4 IDQ10s vs. 2 RL-p 12s???

Like the title says...I am trying to figure out my sub setup.

Right now I am thinking about either 4 IDQ10s (because I want to be different) or 2 SoundSplinter RL-p 12s (because they are up there with the XXX and Brama you can get 2 for under $500).

Both setups will be ported and end up being around the same size 4 ft^3.

I know it is impossible to tell, but if you had to guess, with 1000 watts, which setup will win in SPL? SQ? SQL?

I know the IDQ is more SQ based, but I figure 4 ported would still slam due to the whole surface area thing.

Also would 500/ea be enough for the RL-p, and has anyone run them ported yet, everything I have seen they have been sealed. Maybe I will go with a smaller sealed box for them...

Any other suggestions you could like to throw out would be good too. I would like to keep it UNDER 4ft^3 and UNDER $500 in total.

Thanks

-Jordan

if i'm not mistaken the idq has the same sq as the idmax and the idmax is no slow leak when it comes to sq so i really question if there would be a sq advantage with the sound splinters. i to am think about going with 4 idq 10's ported

Go for the IDv3's tho, they are better than the IDQ's (only version 2). They are cheaper too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

x2. More Xmax, great SQ and spring terminals instead of the old connector style //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Peerless XLS is a great sub aswell.

IDv.3 require more airspace then the IDQ, minimum net volume for the IDQs would be ~3ft^3 where as the IDv.3 would be close to 4.5ft^3.

I REALLY dont want to go over 4ft^3 after displacement and port volume and stuff. I still want to be able to use my trunk some...

Good point.

Call ID and ask if they thought the loss of a 1/4ft^3 per speaker were hurt much. The IDv3's really are quite a bit better than the current IDQ's (imo), and cheaper.

edit: and Im an IDQ fan from way back. I still own a pair of 8's. The new IDv3's are better, but if the space issue really becomes a problem I understand chosing the Q's.

Yea I have read all the stuff you guys are saying about the IDs being a little better than the IDQs, but right now it is the space thing. I may call up ID and talk to them about my options.

Also is 250/ea enough, thats RMS, but i heard they can take more...the amp i am loooking at does 1000 will they still get LOUD with the minimum sized box and rms power???

IDQV2 Smaller air space than the original IDQ. I have heard the v.3 dont sound as good as the v.2..... and 4 would be amazing....
Yea..they were comparing the IDQv.2 and the IDv.3

Im hoping 4 will be amazing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Im just comparing what's available, there is no IDQv3 (unfortunately).
Yea I got it, I was just clearing it up for him...im not counting on the IDQv.3 anytime soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

i've heard 4 sealed idq's on a 1000w amp and it got LOUD and sounded oh so good. In my experience IDQ's sound better ported so yeah definitely get 4 IDQ's ported.
