I have found that if you let a friend use your ride and DO NOT want them to "play the subs"....
Either take the face plate out or disconnect power to amps..

Exactly what I do. I keep my HU face plate..

this was your first mistake ,haven't you heard the dd1 is doing more harm than good ,and alot of people are blowing subs using it, 2nd your friend blew the subs by blasting the shlt out of your system,if he says he wasn't he full of shlt..again user error not soft parts .

im not disagreeing but on the other sub the spider started to come up and that sub wasnt even warm....like 50% of the top spider was detached where is should have been glued down....

It's a sign of poor build quality and shoddy soft parts. Might as well just tell you it's from not breaking in. Sewn-in leads are prone to actually causing fire.

I have never burnt a tinsel lead myself and I abuse the crap out of woofers.

OP, measure the OEM coil, if it's 3.180" OD, hit up Sundown for Z V2 recone kit. We have used that kit in LV5 and it seems to hold up better than the OEM DC parts.

DC has definitely changed parts suppliers in the last year or so and failures seem to be on the rise.

Probably the same 8 year old Chinese slaves that are making AQ subs putting these together now. Clearly terrible build quality. Your friend didn't do that in 5 minutes. The tinsel was likely hanging by a thread anyway and with some play started arcing and heating up, then flame.

Doesn't matter really if it was him or the subs fault! He just said fu'q u and i'm playin your system anyway. That was f'ed up so no matter who's fault he has to pay for the repair but it sounds like he probably doesn't have money anyway though if he only had 5 for gas. ***** for u no matter any how.
