My opinion is that to be a gun owner one should prove they can properly use a firearm from field stripping to cleaning to safety to actually firing the weapon. This should be a standardized test.

Owning a weapon is not a "God" given right. It is a Government given right. Unless one is referring to the United States Government as a "God". Rights in fact are not "God" given. Rights and Laws are written by "Man", our elected officials in fact. I think everyone who wants to own a firearm should have the opportunities to do so. That doens't mean everyone should have a firearm. That fact has been proven many times over.

I do agree there should be weapons free zones and I think if more parents interact with their kids then less kids will hurt others. To sum up.... I love car audio!!!!

Weapon/gun free zone sign doesn't stop a person from carrying a firearm w/o anybody knowing about it.

That is your interpretation, though it makes no sense to me. "God given rights", "Not a supreme being", "The rights of any free citizen"... So by your interpretation and phrasing any free citizen is a God? People as a whole need leaders and leaders need followers. The best way to get people to follow you is to appeal to them in whatever way you can. If one believes in God then I could say I believe God would want you to.... fill in the blank. If one believes in God and thinks they should be able to own a gun then I could say I believe it is your "God Given Right To Own A Firearm". It's all about control and you can bank on that. Make them think you are doing something for them and they will follow and support you. Back in 1789 it was a different time, different terminology, different life. As time advances and the world evolves, so too must the constitution.

Wrong again. Once you realize that the constitution was written by a group of people who had just fought a war to gain their freedom, it becomes easier to understand. The bill of rights ( the first 10 amendments to the constitution) was written in a way to both maintain the rights of the people, and to limit the power of the government.

The people who want the constitution ‘too evolve’ are the ones who want to remove the rights of the people.

A group of people that owned other peoples, whilst espousing all men are created equal. Owning fire arms is not a God given right. It is a right created by man made laws. There should be thorough back ground checks, mental illness should preclude ownership, and there should be some type of training mandate for a conceal carry permit. Having said that, any gun law would only affect law abiding citizens, the criminals usually don't buy their weapons legally anyway. And a gun free zone sign simply tells the criminal that this is the place to commit your crime, since no-one can stop you. I served in the US Army for 12 years, and have worn a gun for a living for twelve and a half years, and I own firearms as well, and I don't go anywhere without one of them, period. There are several million of us that do own, and carry, so if guns were really the issue, don't you think that there would be a lot more shootings?

I said I agree there should be weapons free zones, not remove weapons from people. I will give schools as an example. Armed security and metal detectors at schools, all schools. That would bring school shootings way down just by doing that. The people saying "ban guns" because some kid shot up some other kids is just speaking emotionally and not thinking rationally. That child was going to get a gun no matter what. Disarm the military... then we would never go to war. See what I mean? It's silly.

Evolve - : to change or develop slowly often into a better, more complex, or more advanced state :. Remove -: to cause (something) to no longer exist:. These are NOT the same words and do NOT mean the same things. This is either how you think or you telling others what they think.

A person breaks into a house. This person shoots someone with his/her legally obtained and constitutionally protected handgun that this person has the right to own. This person is caught, pays a penalty of some kind and then legally buys another handgun. The Bill of Rights says:

"Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Do you think this person should still have the right to own a firearm?

Do you think that every person has the mental capacity to own a firearm?

Do you think that the Second Amendment is absolute and should be the final word no matter what?

Who do you think gives you your rights? I know who takes them away if you violate the law(s). Take a look back through history when the automobile was invented. Who invented it? Was it government? No.... but now, if you want to drive you must pay money, take test and so on. Guess what it is not... it is not your RIGHT to drive, it is a privilege. No joke, look it up. Someone took away YOUR right to drive... hmmm who was that?
