My guess..to be different. Concrete is heavy as hell and certainly overkill for that application. At least they chose a good driver.

Alot of home theater and large movie theater, stadium, etc. sub enclosures are concrete. I remember seeing something somewhere that there were like 60" Mitsubishi (I think) subs made for somewhere and the enclosures were made of concrete.

mitsubishi makes 100" drive units.They come in their own concrete enclosures weigh 2 ton and cost more than your house.

I believe snoopdan had an enclosure that used granite, I had always thought about something like that, then saw he had actually done it. Seems like a practical and strong material to make boxes from.

one would think concrete is too pourus for an enclosure unless something was done to seal the inside..
