Third try in joining to military. Need pointers!

lol at the comments being made. from my experience, the really smart ones, the ones that get rank from going to schools, are the ones that are not trusted on in the military. some are some are not. if u wanna be an officer than yeah the test says it all. but if u wanna be a grunt, than who the **** cares. 60-70% of enlisted soldiers say they rather follow a person that has street knowledge, or was some kind of problem child, than follow someone that was all about grades and having a goos life. not that anything is wrong with that, ts just the best grunts seem to be the ones that wanted to party or didnt care about life when they were yunger. but consider what job u want first, than if it requires u to be a wiz and u are not, than go look for another job. it all depends on your job.

I will definetly take that into consideration literally. One of the best **** advice so far besides what ctmike has to offer.

I don't know why you keep playing favorites with repsect to the advice given. Just acccept all of it.

Maybe that's what the ASVAB is actually for then - to identify the smart guys who can't be trusted.

If you want in the army, and you're not below a 40 IQ you can get in.

They've become quite 'loose' as I understand it.

I just look at the practice ASVAB test for algebra here: http://www.testprepreview.com/modules/algebra2.htm

It's pretty easy & should not take more than 10 minutes to do them correctly. If you can do them then I think you're ok.

well. im not putting down the smart guys, im just saying that more soldiers rather go into battle under the command of someone that wasnt at home all the time studying. not sure how to put it but u get the picture. those smart ***** need to be behind the line so they can put there brains to work and figure out the battle plan and so on so that we grunts can execute. sorry if i offended the geeks. lol

BTW, the wife is out and I want to be a rol model for my children. Who says that they would send me to Iraq? If they do then they do and if they don't thats fine with me also. All I want to do is live my dream plain and simple. Hell I'm selling off all my car equiptment just incase I have to do schooling. There is more in life then booming down the street when I can do that in the future. No offenve to my fellow bas heads but it's time to do what I really want to do. Acchieve my goal at all cost.

If your joining Army or Marines your gonna go to Iraq if you get lucky maybe afghanistan. I take it your going in to be "GI JOE" as in an Infantry man or tanker or some kind of combat field? You think your gonna guard the whitehouse or something? Cause your gonna go to Iraq. Every person I know that has joined the military has done a tour in iraq or afghanistan the one that went to afghan was a reservist. I only know one person who hasnt depoyed and they got some kinda crazy inteligence job. Hawain is right though. I got in with a possesion of prescription charge and criminal mischief. Luckily I didnt need a waiver.

You know I wish I wassmart enough to become a CO but I was raised by an alcoholic that didn't give a flying fvck about me. Every year I went to a new school. I didn't have the privalige that a lot of children had but I kept myself ot of gangs and trouble except the time I drank a little at the age of 19. The only time I have ever had a run in with the police. All I ever wanted was a carrer in the military but having children kind of halted me but now I have my third chance and this time without her I'm going to do everything in my power to fulfill my dream or destiny if you want to call it.

if im not mistaken, u have till age 31 to join. im not to sure though. but around 30-33. if u are not in by than, than u will not get in.

The recruiter said up to 45 and I'm not waiting that long. This FridayI will take the advice I have recieved from this thread and hopefully something possitive will come out of it. I do appreciate all the possitive feedback I have recieved here and thank you. I will make a review of this thread in the morning and summerize it so I know what to say comes Friday.
