hey guys i currently have a mtx 2-chanell amp 300rms bridged. and an infinity perfect 10.1 svc sub.

how much louder will a ported enclosure get???

im trying to figure out if i should buy another 10.1 and a better amp or just upgrading my current box.

i mainly listen to rap and right now the bass just seems kinda weak. btw the sub is in a q-logic pre fab box .6 cubic feet thats what infinity recomends.

yesterday i met up with golden nugget from these forums who lives about 10 min away. we tried to set my gains with his mm but couldnt get a good reading. were gonna try again soon

anyone know how much home depot would charge to cut the mdf for me cause i live in an apartment and dont have workspace.

oh yea this is going into the trunk of a 2000 camry

cheers to anyone who can help

they dont cut mdf. to many particles and crap will get in the air. you have to find a lumber shop out in the open they will cut it for you. but not circles. you will have to buy the whole board. then they will cut lil segments for you. that's about all

really im in north dallas and my rm said they have a huge saw like hanging on the wall or something. He said there cuts are perfect. if my phone wasnt disconected ide call them.

oh yea i forgot to mention my amp gets very hot. you wouldnt want to hold your hand on it more than say 5 secs. ive had this amp since like 2000 and i think its always gotten very hot.

is this normal???

go to your local JL dealer and

pay them like $20 to set you gains, if it isnt loud enough, port it, Home Depot cut my wood, its like 50 cents a cut tho

if its still not loud enough, youre gonna have to get a better sub, or another one and maybe a bigger amp

yea im trying to figure out if i just need a ported box for the 1 sub, maybe buy another 10.1. or just sell what i currently have now and upgrade everything.

it just makes me mad cause i just spent the money on this sub its only a week old.

that's not true. A guy at home depot cut my MDF pretty well, and didn't even charge for the cuts!

and about your amp getting hot, its normal. Mine gets hot enough to burn your skin on touch.

I would definitely go ported before your invest in new equipment. I just ported my subs and its a world of difference.

thanks thats what i like to hear lol im gonna get some plans for a ported enclosure and build the box over the next couple of days.

ok so if i do this and its still not enough i was thinking i could order another 10.1 perfect and build another ported box to match the other one.

is that ok to do??? would i loose anything having 2 seperate ported boxes???

what freq would you guys suggest for tuning the box or boxes???

who makes the best box plans on here???

If you listen to rap, you want to tune higher. Say, 35 to 40 hz. The difference between sealed and ported is just incredible when tuning that high.

i feel very relieved now thanks for the input.

im gonna go ported with just one. if thats not enough ill get another one.

two ported perfect 10s with the correct amp would get pretty loud right. i would assume so anyway

if we go ahead and build a ported box for the one.. if it's not loud enough I think it would be safe to build another exact same and then just strap them together so they would be as one box.. less clutter.. unless if you make a dual ported box it can be smaller than 2 single ported's.
