Thinking about going with 3-4 8" HT subs.

holy ghetto setup batman
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif why do you say that? Because its running off of a cheap receiver or what? The speakers have sounded pretty darn good compared to other HT i have heard, but again, most of the ones i have heard are all in one setups like what mine started out as.

Only thing i would like to do is run them off of actual amplifiers or maybe just get a nice receiver...... i dont know, i thought it was pretty **** good. I would love some helpful information!

You don't need a "big" sub to get low end extension.

I have my old RE seXXX 10" in 4 cubes tuned to 20 hz and it LITERALLY is knocking nails out of the drywall. This is with only 300 watts.

The fighting scenes in transformers had my entire room shaking.

Yeah, thats what i thought. I have been in the car audio scene for a little while, but totally new to actually designing a HT setup.

Quick question I am going to be using a 12" FIQ in my room for music not HT and it will be on 500 watts from a dayton plate amp. Is tuning the same as it would be in a car or would you want to tune higher. I was thinking 2.2ft tuned to 38, and yes I did just jack your thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

home audio tunes LOW for explosions.. Idk for JUST music

Wow, that almost helped me.
Since you are tuning more for music, then yeah you'd probably want to keep it in the 30-35 hz range.

However I would maybe consider bumping the enclosure size up a little bit since you are only putting 500 watts to it.

Any idea on the amount of port area you wanted to use?

Trying to keep the enclosure somewhat small so I am going use an aeroport, what do you think 3",4",5"??????????

I've heard it and he's not kidding...it gets lowwww.

OP- you're in college, now start acting like it and jack that futon up on some bricks to give you more depth under it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Single 4" would work. That's what I got for my setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

haha i like the idea. See i was trying to keep it classy with nicely reviewed bang for the buck speakers, besides the bose that were gifts for christmas a while back...... I might just have to have a lifted futon for the idmax, but possibly for just a low tuned box for the 15"..... i did like it, its just the box was too big to carry up here. Anything i do will be for next year when i may be in an apartment.... if thats the case im def. doing a huge bandpass or something cool.
