Can any1 help explain how to tune crossover and eq for alpine 9887

[300ZX Twin Turbo 10+ year member]

I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to tune the alpine 9887 i have been playing around in the crossover section and reading alot but just cant seem to figure it out. I want to adjust things such as how much bass the components give and the highs etc etc without having to use the facotry preset EQ's. if anyone can help give a detailed description of how to and why etc etc i would greatly appreciate it.
