Thinking about getting a motorcycle

I have a few bikes for different things. I like taking out my 1000RR for hwy riding though also for hitting the back roads. The 600rr gets intown duty while my 636 gets parking lot duty haha.

If you always respect the machine and don't "hot dog" then there will be no difference between the 600 and the busa. 600's usually have a top speed of like 170 and accelerate way faster than you'd ever need to...I seriously just don't understand the idea of those giant supersports on the street.
Truth. And rider fatigue is way lower on a more nimble bike. Insurance is lower. Maint is lower. Upgrades are cheaper. Very rare instance where a liter and up bike is a better choice for daily street use. Just speaking from actual experience with bikes, so i can understand if most of you have no idea what i am talking about.

There was a bad accident right outside my work last week.....it was sort of the riders fault and the driver of the car

Young kid was running from the cops on a crotch rocket.....He pulls down my street down and by the time he passes the office he's doing at least 100+, I could hear him coming pretty much pinned, flying through the gears

Car pulled out right in front of him and the bike rear ended it

Dude got messed up bad but survived, I don't know how but he got lucky

Natural selection failed in this case...

I got rid of my 10 and am down to just a 636 now. Loved the HP of the bigger bike, just didn't need it enough to keep paying for two bikes. The big bikes are always gonna be the ultimate, just not necessary for daily/enjoyable riding.

Yep, must have been because he had a motorcycle, nothing to do with the choices he made while on the motorcycle.

Just got a CBR600 about a month ago. It's my first street bike and I was scared for the same reasons as you. I always use all my gear even if it's across the street. They're plenty of fun, but also could get you in trouble. I don't go around racing or doing 100+ anywhere. My opinion is get it if you know you can be responsible with it. If you know that you'll be speeding and being wreckless, then dont get it. I'm always creating my own pocket of space in the highway and never tailgate cars.

You will die like a number of very close friends of mine who have died on street bikes. Way too fast.
I was a porter at a Chopper dealership here in Michigan and one of the mechanics there test drove all the bikes after they worked on them.

A woman in a Honda Civic facing into the sun pulled out in front of Rob -- who was a lifetime redneck type Harley Davidson hardcore rider -- who grew up riding everything...Not one **** thing he could do about it..

The only thing that narrowly saved his life leaving him paralyzed was the fact that the 50,000$ Big Dog chopper he was on annihilated the Civic killing the woman and the front end of the chopper broke Rob's spine at the hip...I was with the crew when we rushed out there...

If he was riding a puny street bike, not only would it have exploded into a mangled mess of plastic and lightweight garbage...he would have flown 100 feet instantly dying...The high handle bars and rake of the chopper just broke his spine in half he was lucky..

Don't do it dude...
This

biased opinions ITT
It is a very sad story, but it has nothing to do with the topic. Tragic events happen every day, from people walking to people driving.

Fact is motorcycle fatalities on from streetbike wrecks are actually very rare. Out of all motorcycle wrecks in a whole the "cruiser style" of motorcycle has the highest fatality rate of all. Combine they still fail to even come close to the number of fatal car wrecks in just a few months.

BTW-That penguin still kicks a*s in your sig!!
