In about a year me and the girlfriend are thinking about getting a monkey as a bet. Want something smaller. But i want to do a lot of research to make sure its the right choice before i invest 4 thousand dollars on a little feces thrower.

Has anyone had one? Input?

dude getting a monkey in a bet is awesome, the guy/girl wagering it must be desperate, I would make sure he/she has refs because they might be trying to scam you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

E, I've had a monkey before, whan I was around 10-11 yrs old. I loved it.....believe it or not, they are VERY clean, and pretty easy to control/train.

Over the yrs, my family has had some crazy pets......from a wolf, cayma /crocodile, snakes, owls, foxes, etc

anyway, I really dont remember exactly the kind I've had, but its the very small one that likes to sit on shoulders......he actually cuddled up w/ me when I slept, and followed me everywhere. If I had the chance, I'd buy another w/o hesitation. I'll try to find out from my mom what kind it was........but I highly recommend it!!!!!

my friend had one, you have to buy a huge cage for it and have it in its own seperate room that it can sleep in because it will smell like shit and scream all night...

you also need diapers , food, and other necessities... its a very tedious and expensive pet to have... but if you can afford it (and someone to take care of it for you) then go for it...

they also dont do well with strangers, whenever i would come over it would scream and flip out if we ever went near it... only the owner could hold it or it would totally wig out and shit all in its diaper

well whoever owned it before you mustve of trained it with a stun gun or something

Spider monkeys are pretty easily tameable, cheap and generally easy to take care of.. Though they need LOTS of attention you can't just leave it in a cage all day.

there's more than 1 species of monkey, so you may not know what you're talking about.

I had it since it was a baby, so we trained it........it wouldny be a good idea getting a mature one anyway, but they are definately not ALL bad pets like you think.

well duh theres more than 1 species... i dont know what kind it was but it smelled like shit, was annoying as hell screaming all the time, and if someone went up to it that it dident know it would go crazy...

it was really small and dident have like human hair... it had like fuzzy kitten hair that was really thin and far in between (if that makes sence)
