Thinking about getting a monkey as a pet

you also need diapers , food, and other necessities... its a very tedious and expensive pet to have... but if you can afford it (and someone to take care of it for you) then go for it...

E, I've had a monkey before, whan I was around 10-11 yrs old. I loved it.....believe it or not, they are VERY clean, and pretty easy to control/train. Over the yrs, my family has had some crazy pets......from a wolf, cayma /crocodile, snakes, owls, foxes, etc

anyway, I really dont remember exactly the kind I've had, but its the very small one that likes to sit on shoulders......he actually cuddled up w/ me when I slept, and followed me everywhere. If I had the chance, I'd buy another w/o hesitation. I'll try to find out from my mom what kind it was........but I highly recommend it!!!!!

think it might have been a spider monkey? is there anyway you could find a picture of it on the web or something?

how did you get it? what were your favorite things about it? was it potty trained? did it smell? was it kind? did it like strangers? etc. etc. any information would be great. Thanks!

I looked at getting a monkey a while back. It was going to be WAY too much work and money to be able to raise it correctly. Not to mention one of the biggest downsides to having one is finding a vet to give it inspections/shots. I called a bunch of different vets and none would treat a monkey. You might want to call around and make sure you can find someone to treat it before you get it.

thats a good point. i never thought about that. my mom looked into getting one about 10 or so years ago. was going to be expensive as hell. but i think you should get a penguin and name him tux. lol and jonnybusa.......your crazy as hell for having all those animals. tho i wouldnt mind having a wolf and most of the other things you named off lol.

It would be a HUGE pain in the *** in my opinion. My wife has an aunt who has had several that she has raised that will eventually be placed in the homes of disabled people to assist them.

She has a habit of bringing the little bastards to family functions. She is the ONLY person in the family that thinks the mean little shits are in any way amusing.

I really would not want to have to worry about WTF do we do with the monkey every time I wanted to leave the house. It would be like having to perpetually care for a toddler --- with an extremely bad attitude.

Caring for dogs is bad enough. But at least with them you can put them in the backyard, load up their bowls and let 'em take of themselves if you need to go somewhere (like work).
