Think my speakers are blown.

I purchased 2 Alpine SPR-17c door speakers from a guy on craigslist, didn't test them (my mistake, I know.) I think they are blown. When pressing on the cone it's scratchy sounding, and when I hook them up to my head unit amp when pretty much any bass comes through it has a slight rattle. Is there anything I can do to fix this or are they toast?

I don't know much about car audio....this probably won't change if I hook my amp up to them will it?

could be dirt in the coil gap. try blowing them out with a air compressor. i've had plenty of door speakers in my off road vehicles ive had over the years do the same thing. might not be blown just dirty.
