think my diamond cm3 is blown

wonderful, i bought a 12" diamond cm3 today from the local shop, only to find that its blown it hink. it plays, but as soon as it gets to a half audible level, it sounds like there is something hitting the cone, any ideas?

tinsel slap or you're driving it too hard?

only sending it 320wrms, and it takes 500, gains are not high, no bassboost, the only thing i did was the drill slipped off and hit the surround, im not sure if it made a hole or not, but if it did would that cause it? also how could i fix tinsel slap?

Maybe polarities are hooked up wrong causing the sub to "bottom out" on the hard hits, could be your surround flapping but usually its not that effective. This may be a dumb ? but whats Tinsel slap?

Tinsel lead is the part that connects the voice coil. They can slap on the cone when ur sub is at high excursion. These can also pop off which will make someone think theyr sub is blown when all u gota do is jujst resolder it bak on and ur good to go

yes thats more of the reason why it probly isnt blow and its probly just the tinsel lead. Take ur sub out and check it. be glad if it is the tinsel lead. If its not then u got a problem or ur install is mest up.

Edit - oh and tinsel leads dont break....the tinsel lead is the wire that connects ur Voice coils, the part where u put the speaker wire into ur sub. its a wire that connects to that. It just comes off, and ull just need to resolder it (easy)

what kind of box is your cm3 in? Tinsel leads **** i had a problem with my old IDQ's cause the wire harness was on a piece that swiveled a little.....right into the **** speaker. Im still waiting for someone to invent a WIRELESS subwoofer....lol

woven leads dont really ****. havent had a problem with the ones on my k's.
