think i saw a ghost.

i have to stick up for bowflex a little. it's not safer, but they will kick your teeth in. you cannot cheat with the bowflex. no bouncing the bar off your chest with it. no amount of body jerking helps at all.
I have the extreme SE and I have to say it's safer. I don't feel any pain in my back anyway like I did with free weights. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. They do say it's safer and so far I agree. It gives a nice work out, but I am still on the beginning level. I have yet to move the resistance bars out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I used to have a nasty habit of arching my back and have been dq'd for it in comps. It was almost natural for me and had to learn not to do it. Would kill my back when I was done and mostly was due to that.
I have lifted for a couple hours at a time with a totally fuked up back on the bowflex and don't feel any pain in my back when I am done. Trust me it is different.
you just need to learn not to arch. i dont see how a bowflex would help considering its still just a flat surface on your back....maybe because the bowflexes max is only like 220lbs or something

im not saying you cant build muscle with a bowflex, but free weights are much better and thats proven. you cant bounce with DBs either you know. thats what i usually use for bench. the bow flex offers very limited exercises and weight limits too. i could easily rack that thing on bench, so itd be useless to me. i also dont see the point in spending hundreds on a bowflex when you can get a gym membership, have insurance pay for some of it, and end up going there for 1-2 years with the money you spent on the bowflex.
there's some truth there. i've seen the opposite though as far as not building muscle like free weights. my uncle is 45 and uses the bowflex exclusively at home. he can go to the gym and push up 405 like nothing at 45 years old. he goes 1 time every 6 months to get his max and that is the only time he uses free weights. other than the cost, the bowflex is pretty good. oh, and those cables are a pain in the a$$.

yeah well i bet he woulda gotten to that point much quicker with free weights. theres really no arguement. there have been studies done on this and free weights always come out on top.

Still didn't post you or yours. I could also post my business cards as well, but I don't, cause I don't have to. You have proved to everyone that knows you on these boards that you try and act like you are better than us, when all you are is a troll that sucks Tim Duncans dick!

i am going to become a longhorn soon. probably next fall. i am finishing my degree in history/ mexican american studies with a teaching certification. i am an honors student as well and its good to see someone else on here doing it big.

Wow!

For starters, I am not looking to build muscle. I want to lose more weight and tone up, but you can still build muscle with it. If you don't think so, I can link you a site, lol!

I spent a lot of money, but do you have 2 kids and a 7 month old baby and work 50 hours a week at full time job and then when ever a snow storm hits, I go out for hours upon hours plowing business' and drive ways. So trust me it fits right into my life style. Yeah I paid a little too much for it, but I am out of the gym phase and plus I don't have the time for it. So just because you like they gym, don't knock it. It works very well.

See you don't even know anything about it. Mine goes up to 320 resistance and can take it up to 420. Mine is also set upright, not lying down. So I can't arch my back.

sociology

lol

I had dreams of being a counselor

doing rehab and the sort

too bad Im not an Indian

biggest employer for social work in the area has goverment approved Indian preference for hiring purposes, so Im fuxored there

thinking about going back to school after baby gets here to get a second in engineering (actually about 1/3 through engineering, but changed to sociology, Im still not sure why, I know it was easier though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

stick with free weights bigbang, screw the machines they just target one muscle group, free weights target many muscles surrounding the muscles hit with the exercise, see i'm not stupid after all i know some shit.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

only with younger people. not with the over 35 crowd. he was a national champion in wrestling in college 3 times. missed the olympic team by 1 place. he'll back your claim when he was a younger man, but now, he swears by it. btw. he was way beyond that point in college with free weights. not just in strength, but obviously endurance. he swore by the clean and jerk. he says that any young athlete that isn't doing the clean and jerk as part of a work out routine cannot match up in explosive power with someone who does.
