Think I fried my AMP :(

well it had been working good for about a week(with old HU ) and then today I installed a new HU and once i finished i started up the car and BAM smoke starts coming from my amp.....Could my new HU have anything to do with this???

Last night I unplugged the power to amp for some reason and then plugged it back in and it sparked when i did this.....could this have been it???

Please help

P.S. it is only 2 weeks old from best buy.....can i go return it even if I didnt buy the service plan ????

sweet...... So i should have disconnected the battery wire before reconnecting the power wire to the amp? ???

Do you think they will give me any hell about the Amp return ???

Yeah, I always disconnect the neg. terminal before I mess around...

Im a lil worried it might happen again with the new amp (if they give me 1 ) Does this wiring sound good??? OK i bought a complete wiring kit from WalMart that has a 4gauge wire that connects to battery then into a fuse box (100A fuse) then 4 gauge threw my firewall to the amp. The amp is grounded to my metal framework. Then rca & remote wire from my head unit to my amp..

Sound Good ?

thats fine. you screwed up when you fooled around with the wiring and didnt disconnect the ground first. do that, and you'll be safe.

Now I think ill still be a lil nervous till I walk out of Best Buy with a new 1.....

Also...an amp wont catch the fuzz on the speaker box on fire could it??? (where the feet were mounted to speaker box the fuzz had turned into hard plastic ) ??

it might, but that sounds like just some excessive heat from your amp or something.
