I im thinking of designing a box with some sort of toggle switches so that i could swith between having my subs wired from 2 ohms to .5 ohms. basically they would be wired for both .5 and 2 but with some sort of switch to break the current depending on wich setup was needed. Has anyone tried this?

yeah you could do it. basically you would just have to think it through though, and if its a dvc you will prolly need 4 switches per sub. the switch though may add a little bit of resistance, and you would also have to find switches that will be able to pass that kind of current.

yeah, you would need true bypass switches, but no matter what you are going to gain some heat and lost some wattage, and probably gain some leaks, it will be tough to seal a switch up, i mean tougher than not having a switch there.

edit: just noticed you have two subs with 1 cube sealed each, why theheck do you want to toggle your ohmage?

with the ohm rise in your sealed boxes there as soon as they get moving, it'll be at 12 ohms or so anyway.

So what your saying is with the imp rise i should just run them .5 daily?

basically i just wanted to try it to see if i could do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

/\/\ wood plate with binders for the win..

if your amp can kinda take .5 ohms, i'd just wire it to that.

i ran almost every class D amp i've ever owned at .5 ohms at some point in time.

just make sure it's got some good cooling, and it wont touch anything, you should be fine.

fire > you.
