Saw a blip about this technology on the news this morning and immediately considered car audio applications. Working under the assumption that the technology can be brought to a level where it competes with conventional drivers, as well as not limiting the clarity the windshield, Thin-film speakers can alleviate many issues that plague automotive installs. Thoughts?

It has merit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Let's not forget about surface area.

Magnepan is just one brand that comes to mind concerning some of the thinnest elements to produce full fledged low frequency response. The 1.6 and 3.6 models both have very good low frequency abilities for an element that only moves a few millimeters. I know that's not the same technology, just giving a different perspective.

Piezo elements will of course be limited by their inherent capacitance.
