what pisses me off is ive been pulled over for speeding and the cops did not say anything about the tint and this guy pulls a U turn from oncoming traffic to get me just for the tint.

I had the same issue here where I live. My truck has 5% on all 4 doors and 30% on the windsheild. My father is a cheif of police in another town and asked me if the troopers car had tint on it. I told him it did. He advised me to go to court and state that the troopers car was also in violation with his tint.

The judge and the lawyer dude for the county had me pay 15.00 in court fees and the charge was dismissed after they realized the troopers car was in violation as well.

According to my father, police vehicles are not to have illegal tint either.

Im not saying go to court and tell them the cops are illegal as well but in my case I had some backup.

Just do what you want to do. It might not happen again it might happen again tommorow. Its the risk you take for having tint. Ive never been pulled over for my tint (20% all around 30% windshield) But I have been pulled over 2 times in like a year for my smoked headlights. I went to court told them I removed the tint they dropped the ticket. I bought a new can of paint on my way home and 2 hours later they were smoked again. I then got pulled over about 4 months after that. I am just gonna do it again

go 2% above what ever legal tint is... a bunch of buddies in daytona beach during spring break were getting tint tickets all night long. all the cop's meter's were reading 2% lower (5% was reading 3%). and it wasnt a screw up, a few people with 5%, 10%, 15% etc were getting tickets and the cop's meter would read it 2% lower.

it was 20% lol, and ya in michigan you can only have like the top 4 inches of the window tinted ya looks dumb.

Thats exactly what I had. I took mine off. I paid $60 for the tint, $25 to take it off and $35 for the fix it ticket it self and ended up with no tint at all lol

ya i mean i could just pay the fine, and take the risk and not have to worry about tinting again, but worry about getting pulled over again. i don't know. it sucks. i just hate the look with no tint. or anything less then 20% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

ya tint is not a moving violation, so it shouldnt matter if you get another one, atleast thats not the case in texas.

ya, im guessing that's the same here. there's no points or anything. so if it happens again ill just have to pay the fine again. guess ill think about it some more. i mean its the first time in 3 years getting pulled over for tint. driving almost the same route to work. so i guess i could take the risk and just pay it, but then i would not be surprised if the exact same cop pulls me over. probably is the one that sits at the speed trap by my house.

there it is! you just said it. you haven't been pulled in 3 years but now its costing you 60 bucks to remove and re-tint the car to avoid the fine. thats cheap if you look at it this way.........for 3 years you've been driving around with your car tinted as dark as YOU wanted. how much do you pay for your registration sticker every year? so basically its costs you 20 bucks a year to have it tinted your way, yeah you take the chance of getting pulled again but maybe not for another couple years.
